Long Distance Relationship
Story of the Week
My boyfriend Aaron and I met on the internet. He's in the Army, and was stationed in Iraq at the time. He got really homesick one day, so he did a Yahoo member search on people from San Antonio (we're both from there). My name happened to pop up, and I also happened to be online. He IM'd me, and that's where it all started. We got along immediately. A few days later, he started calling me (and thankfully he called in a way that wasn't international charges...I don't know how, Army stuff). We hit it off in a way that I'd never experienced before. I had this amazing connection with someone I'd never met before.
We finally got to meet 6 months later, when he came home from Iraq. He drove into town at 5 am, and came to my house. When I laid eyes on him the first time, I KNEW deep within my heart that he was the one for me. We spent 2 weeks together, and we were totally comfortable with each other.
Sadly, he's stationed in Arizona when he's in the US. So I make trips to see him every month or so. And he takes leave when he can to come home.
When this first started, it was really hard on me. So I figured I'd find some sort of book to help me get through the times we were apart. I happened upon "Loving Your Long-Distance Relationship", and I'm so glad I did. Mr. Blake allowed me to see that just because we're not physically together, it doesn't mean that it can't work.
So now, we've been together a little over a year. He's currently deployed in the Middle East again. But now I have the confidence in our relationship. I know that we're going to get through this, and any other obstacle we come across. There's a light at the end of the tunnel, because I know we'll be together soon.
