Long Distance Relationship
A couple of years ago during our county fair, I would have never imagined that I met the man that I am going to marry. It was a hot July evening and a popular band was playing at our grandstand, so there were a lot of "out of towners" there. That is when I litteraly "bumped" into someone that I had briefly met the year before. So we began talking about what the both of us had been up to and what our future plans were. Towards the end of the night, I found out that he was going into the Air Force and was leaving for San Antonio Texas for his basic training. That drown all of my hopes of even starting a relationship because he was leaving in two months from the time that we were at the grandstand. I thought that he wouldn't take the chance at love if he knew that he was going to have to leave me. The two months came and went and when he left we had been a "couple". I spent my nights writing endless letters, and spent my weekends at home waiting for that phone call that came once a week. It was now December and my boyfriend was finally coming home to Minnesota for Christmas, finally I was going to be able to feel his arms around me again. Thankfully my Christmas present was a plane ticket to San Antonio so that I could be with him one week longer.
The day after I left San Antonio, my boyfriend was stationed in Cheyenne Wyoming for his technical training. Now we were closer, but still far apart. The letter writing continued, even email, and now a phone call at least every other night. And if I was lucky he would come home for a couple of days. It saddened me to see everyone around me actually with there boyfriends, but I knew that I had something more special. Every moment that we have spent together, isn't taken for granted, because we know how precious our time is. When the person that truly makes you happy is so far away, you start to belive that they can't get any further. I found out that they can. I knew for a while that my "one to be" was going to be stationed in Saudi Arabia for three months. He is there now, and I am here writing about how thankful that I am that I have him in my life. There isn't a day that goes by that I thank God for giving me the courage, the understanding, and the patience that goes into my love. Every night I ask God to keep the both of us safe so that one day we will never have to be apart again. I know now that anything is possible, any kind of love is possible. There is not a distance set on how far your love can reach. You just have to be willing, and strong enough to try. Kimberly, Minnesota, USA
