Long Distance Relationship
Ewan and I met this past summer while I was in Scotland on a mission trip with friends of mine from the University I attended He was in the youth group we were working with and his dad was the minister there.
We only really talked the last week o r so I was there but we both felt a connection that was unmistakeable. I returned back to my home in Missiouri and we emai led for the next 6 weeks, everyday somethimes more than once. He wanted to come visit me in America for a few weeks so I said sure not really knowing what to expect when he got there. It was obvious that we liked each other because of our em ails but we had never physically been together for any significant length of time.
He ended up staying with me for 3 and a half weeks. First at my parents house and then with some friends of mine when I went back to University. We fell madly in love with each other in such a short time but it seemed like we had known each other forever. When he left we were both devastated but totally comitted to making it work because we knew it would last always. We have now been apart for 2 months and a half months and I am going over to Scotland in a month and a half so we can be together for New Years. I'm staying for 10 days but it will be so wonderful.
We are emailing all the time and we talk on the phone every other day for a couple of hours. Believe me it is expensive but its totally worth it because we love each other so much. I really appreciate you book Loving your long distance Relationship. I'm going to send a copy to Ewan so he can read it too. I could relate to so much of it. We are doing a lot of things you suggested in there to help keep us going, like we always make plans to see each other again and thats what really keeps us going. Plus we totally trust each other and are committed to each other and to God.
Without God to help us through this we would have been so doomed to failure. We plan on seeing each other again in March for a couple of weeks and then in the summertime. Then he is transfering to go to school here with me. So really we only have until May that we have to do the LDR thing. I'm so happy to know that I'm not alone in this kind of relationship.
Its comforting to know that others have done it and are doing it as well. Thank you so much for all the encouragement I got from your book!
