Long Distance Relationship
It all happened the summer before my sophomore year. That summer I met the person who would forever change my life. I went to a camp in Minnesota, and that's where I met him. His name was Steve, and he was from Littleton Colorado. From the moment I met him I knew there was something very special about him. He had the most beautiful blue eyes I had ever seen. One thing that really attracted me to him was the way he made me feel and how he treated me.
We had an instant connection. We spent the whole week getting to know each other. Every minute we could be together we were. I will never forget the night he kissed me; it was magical. Everyone at camp knew we shared something special, and every always told us how cute we were. I had never met anyone like him, and I have to admit that I was very taken by him. We were both crushed the night we had to say goodbye. I couldn't understand why god would introduce me to someone who I had such a connection with only to take him away from me.
I lived in Indiana and he lived in Colorado; which was nearly 1,000 miles away. We promised to stay in touch through email, writing each other, and talking on the phone. The first couple of months after camp we did great, we talked some way every night. Soon though, we lost touch. I forced myself to believe what we experienced was just a little fling, even though my heart was telling me something different. Although I forced Steve out of my mind, he was always in my heart and I always thought about him. About a year later we started talking again. I was glad to have him back in my life; it was just the same as before. We had that same great connection. Then again the ways of the world came into play and we lost touch. I wasn't really mad, but I just thought "Maybe we really aren't meant to be" I looked at our relationship as a great friendship, and I knew even if we never talked againI would always remember him.
Two years after we had lost touch, towards the end of my senior year I was woke up one night by a text message on my phone. To my surprise it was Steve. He was training to be a Navy Seal in Illinois, which was only a couple hours from me. Since that night we've continued to stay in touch. I have grown up a lot since when I met him, but when I talk to him I still get that old feeling. We still have a great connection. It's so ironic how we've lost and regained touch time and time again. I think he could be the one. After all the time we still have that special bond.
I don't know what the distance or future will bring, but I can see myself with Steve, and hope one day we will be reunited. We've both always said if we were only closer things would be perfect, but I think maybe the distance we have endured has and will in the end have made our connection stronger.
