Long Distance Relationship
Last year around this time, I met the most amazing man online! At first, I doubted it would work, seeing as though I was going to school, living on my own and working full time. So at the time, He was more of just an online friend or pen-pal. But as time went on, I realized that I became very close to him and my days werent the same unless I talked to him. With him living in Chicago, the chances of us becoming boyfriend and girlfriend, were slim to none in my eyes, but with time, that all changed. As months went by, we talked on the phone and the internet for hours at a time each day. In may of 2003, He went to Texas for two months to play baseball. While he was gone, even though he lived in another state than me, I felt as though he was farther away from me and that hurt more than anything. It was then that I realized I was falling in love with this man. The two months he was in Texas were rough. The night before he left, We decided that nothing would ever become of us and dec ided to stop talking.
I dont think I have ever cried so much in my entire life. After about 3 weeks, I couldnt take it anymore and decided to call him and things were definately awkward. But as time went on through the next month, things began to get better and he decided to fly to Pennsylvania to see me a couple weeks after he got home. After 6 months of an online and phone relationship, July 19th was the first day we ever met. I remember picking him up at Pittsburgh International Airport, and I know some people say that "love at first site" is fake but, It wasnt in this case. We spent 2 weeks together and it was then I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. The day he went home, I was devastated. I missed him more and more every second he was gone. As soon as i got home, I booked a ticket to go and see him 3 weeks later.
As the months went on, We saw each other every month and things couldnt have gotten better other than if we lived in the same state, but it was great up until now (March). Hes in Florida again for baseball, and we are having problems. Hes busy this time, just as I was last year when we met, and the time he has for me is slowly getting less and less and its killing me. The day after he left I coudlnt take it nemore.
No more of me self-diagnosing that everything was his fault or mine so,I bought the book "Loving your Long-Distance Relationship" after looking online for love advice. As I was reading through the book,It helped me in ways I didnt think were possible. It was if i was reading my own relationship story. I know it wont help him unless he reads it, But it has helped me soo much and I thank you for that. In a couple weeks, I have a trip planned to go see him,If things dont work out, I dont know where it will all lead. But im taking the book with me.
Hopefully with us reading it together and trying to figure out our relationship, We will get back on track and look to the future we had planned someday o f getting married and having children. Because thats what we both want, but what were going through now is just a bump in the road, and your book made me realize that.
Thank you very much!
