Long Distance Relationship
My situation is one that I thought I would never have to be involved in until I went to Putnam Bay on Labor Day weekend. I was currently living in Royal Oak, MI and not dating much. I was a long vacation with the guys just to stay at this party island and drink the weekend away. We were having a good time, getting into trouble like young single guys do and trying to meet as much women as possible. I myself always had a difficult time going up to a complete stranger and trying to talk with them, especially women. Then one night at the bar, all my friends were talking with girls and having a good time and I was so frustrated that I could not meet somebody, I finally told myself I am going to go up a girl and start talking with her and care less about how she reacts to it.
So I start looking around the bar and she this cute blonde walking across the room and instead of me going up to her and begin talking to her I did something that I'm pretty sure I did unconsiously, I pointed at her like a witness pointing out a criminal in a police station. At first she gave me a weird look like "why in the hell are you pointing at me" but then proceeding to walk over and I just said. "Hi, how are you tonight?" To make a long story short, we spent the whole rest of the evening together and I walked her home and went back to my condo with my friends and thought nothing of it. The next day, I saw her in a breakfast place with her friends and went up to her again just for the heck of it to say hello and what she was up to today. She stated she was going to the winery later that afternoon and I stated that I myself was going there and would hope to see her there later. Well I did and again we had a great time together and spent most of the night with each other until I walked her home again and we exchanged business cards. Come to find out, she lived in Cincinnati, OH which was about 4 hours south of Royal Oak. I thought I would keep her card just to remember the trip by and nothing more. A week later, I was flipping through my planner and I came across her card. I figured what the heck and e-mailed her to say hello and how was the trip back to Cincinnati. She wrote back then I wrote back etc., then we exchanged home numbers and I called her one night and found out that we had alot in common. I fact, I remember one night we were on the phone together for more than 3 hours. We both worked for long distance companies and thought nothing of it since we received a employee discount and to make a long story short, I went a visited her in November. We had a great time with each other then too and since her family was from Michigan she came and visited me during Thanksgiving Bill from Michigan, USA For more Story of the Week back issues click on Back Issues
