Long Distance Relationship
About three years ago I was actively into the Internet on a chatline which you may know of as 'IRC' Well if you're familiar with irc you know that for a while something called 'groups' were popular and wanting to be cool just like every teenager does, I joined one, and met someone who called himself 'tsc' He was the sweetest guy, always helpful and willing to talk. As time went by we became great friends and talked often. Around November my modem on my computer was killed in an electrical storm at the time i didn't know how to protect it, during this time i wasn't on irc at all, and during the end tsc and I began talking again, there was another gentleman involved who we'll leave nameless who i cared about but lived half way across the country!! I spent hours on end talking to tsc about this and one day after I had received a new modem for Christmas from my parents and actively began using irc again i came online and a person by the name of 'tagx' messaged me asking what i had done to tsc! He pasted me messages that said
I immediately messaged him to find out what the story was, only to find out that he cared about me, I know what you're all thinking about how can you care about someone that you've never met before, but it happens, believe me it does...you get to know the person's insides and the persons true self before you get to know their face or anything else, it's what i call true love, there could be nothing more real in my eyes. Anyhow, after a few weeks tsc and i became an item on January 1 to be exact. We would talk constantly I would come home from school and get online to speak to him, come home from work and do the same, and he would also. We would call each other on the phone regularly and talk. Finally in April we met, in San Fransisco, his entire family (mom, dad, brother, him) flew to my hometown to meet me.
It was the best experience of my life actually meeting the man behind the voice and being able to spend time with him that didn't involve a computer screen or a keyboard. Well the week went by fast and so did the following months, and it came to be June, tsc was graduating from high school and would be coming to stay with me for an entire two weeks! Again it was an amazing experience!! Our relationship grew and grew and we knew that we wanted to be together forever. In August i made my first trip out to Ohio to see him and upon my leaving he presented me with a ring and proposed, i of course accepted :) We had made plans for him to drive to California in September and to start college where I was attending at the time, since I didn't graduate until the following January.
Unfortunately our plans fell through and we didn't get to be together until my trip back to Ohio during a school break in October..Time passed and we didn't get to see each other again until Christmas Day!! At this time we spent the entire month from dec 24 to jan 25 upon which i packed all my things after graduating from college and moved my butt to Ohio to live with him in his parents house. Things have worked out great, it's been three months since i've moved here and i've got an excellent job working at an isp and he works for a different isp in the cincinnati area. He is looking to start school in September and things are going great.
This just goes to show you that if you want it badly enough long distance relationships do work out in the end.
I love you Derek.
