Long Distance Relationship
In January of this year, I was, once again, a bachelor. My dating life had been very selective the past two or three years, and I was quite ready to find that "special one" I knew was out there. I had been playing in a band with some of my friends, and we were looking for a change in our sound: a new singer. Preferably a female. We had friends of friends who eventually introduced us to Jenny, a red-haired beauty with an angelic voice and a fun spirit. She sang a few lines and she was in. We began practicing together, and as the weeks passed along, Jenny and I began to develop a strong friendship. She lived 50 miles and a long-distance phone call away. Needless to say, we spent our paychecks on phonebills and gasoline. The Internet provided for a bit of help with our communication. It was a nice medium for poems and quick notes, but waiting for the other to respond took forever. Usually, we ended up calling each other instead, to save our frustration. At 19, I was living on my own, but Jenny, 22, had moved back into her parents' house after living out of town. We were both in school -- she at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) in Chickasha, and I at the University of Oklahoma (OU) in Norman. By April, we were dating. Jenny had never had a boyfriend before -- offers mad by others were turned down as she waited and prayed for "the right one." I had dated since middle school, but had yet to find the person I knew God had saved for me. As we dated, our friendship grew even stronger. I began driving close to 100 miles every Sunday to attend her church. She drove the same distance (from Anadarko, where her parents lived) at least twice a week for practices and dates together. By September, on our 5th month anniversary, we were engaged. I had just transferred to her school and moved to Chickasha so that I could be closer to her. We are getting married next month, in December, with complete blessings from our parents and friends. Good luck with your book, relationship, and all endeavors.
